Released from containment, this mosaic piece out of Claro Walnut (Juglans hindsii) and Red & Curly Maple (Acer rubrum & saccharum) is unusual and interesting. The outer trunk burl appears as the shoreline confining the swirling and eddying flood of deep, dark water. Upon inspection, the grain seems to flurry up towards the outer-edge and stand calmly, whilst near the bottom a frenzy of ripples and spirals whirl uncontrollably, creating a most intriguing effect. The hollows inside of each depression even look similar to whirlpools on the surface of water. Please mount your art on a wall stud or solid mounting surface.
