This little jelly struggles to gain clearance from the obstacles ahead and below. The jellies bell is made from old growth coastal redwood, combined with brass tentacles that have been ground for a matted appearance. The mainstay of this piece is formed from a maple burl that I have burned in areas to create a contrast with this light wood. The driftwood, or "coral" if you will, is a piece of scrub brush from the mountains that was dried and bleached for a bone white look. It suspends freely in the tentacles and can move to liking. A great table piece that is not to large at 14" and is enjoyable from all directions. |
